ABOUT THE CLUB
Model United Nations, or MUN, at St. Francis Xavier is a successful extra-curricular club that provides its members with opportunities to attend conferences and grow as a public speaker and improve skills such as problem-solving, diplomacy, writing and even networking. MUN is a student lead club that focuses on awareness, research, debate and developing resolutions of the world’s most current and urgent issues. To achieve these goals, MUN uses procedures similar to those of the United Nations. At practice sessions (also known as mocks), as well as conferences that occur throughout the school year, all students are assigned as delegates to a country that they represent in a specific committee, such as, Human Rights Council, World Health Organization, UNICEF, etc. In some cases, committees may even focus on entirely fictional universes, such as Harry Potter, Hunger Games, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. At conferences, many members from our club have received awards such Best Delegate, Best Position Paper, or Honourable Mention.
Meet the Team
Sana Rauf | Secretary-General
Hi there! My name is Sana A. Rauf, I am a Grade 12 student in the International Baccalaureate and Transportation Specialist High Skills Major programs here at Xavier, and this year I will be acting as Model UN’s Secretary-General (which is fancy talk for president). Throughout the year, you might also recognize me as a Co-Minister of Records and Finances within the Student Advisory Council, or as a member of the Member of Parliament for Mississauga Centre, Hon. Omar Alghabra’s Youth Council. When I’m not studying, I enjoy volunteering, planning school-wide events, and in my free time, painting, gaming, and rollerblading.
My role in MUN is to essentially work with all your executives to ensure that this Model UN chapter is the best yet. I, alongside your Director-General, will be overseeing quite literally everything that goes into creating your experience as a member. I do my best to dip into every task we take on to ensure the best of our abilities is put forward. And this year I have many aspirations and goals to see FX MUN grow, and I cannot wait to get started with the new members.
Dion Lewis | Director-General
Hey! I’m Dion (like Celine) and I’m a grade 12 academic student here at St. Francis Xavier. I have had the privilege of being a part of FX MUN since grade 10, and while this shall be my final year, I am just as ecstatic as ever to participate in this wacky world of MUN.

Bhoovi Handa | Director of External Affairs
Hi Everyone!
My name is Bhoovi Handa and I am a grade 11 IB student at St. Francis Xavier S.S. Along with that, I am the Senior Director of External Affairs of FX MUN. I am also on the school’s badminton team, drama club, yearbook committee, DECA, and much more. Outside of school, I am a part-time competitive dancer who represents SBAD (Sean Boutilier Academy of Dance). I am a compassionate, intelligent and charismatic person who loves spending time with her family and friends. I also love cracking jokes and silly puns to annoy my friends, but MUNy of them enjoy it.
Mamin Mehboob | Senior Director of Training
It’s so nice to meet you all! My name is Mamin Mehboob, and this year I am your Senior Director of Training so prepare to hear from me a lot! Not only will I be speaking to all of you at almost every meeting to teach you about the world of MUN, such as rules of conference and Model UN procedure, but I will also be the one behind the mock conferences, training exercises, and all other training material! I love Model UN for the same reason I want to be a surgeon in the future: to help improve life for as many people as I can. I love the UN and hope to be a part of it someday as an ambassador because I want to incite change! Over the past few summers, I’ve worked at a medical camp, volunteered at an orphanage and the Civil Works department in an effort to help leave the world better than I found it which is always the goal! Personally, I love musicals, movies, and books of all genres, specifically classics and young adult fantasy. My favourite authors are Jane Austen, Sarah. J. Maas, and Cassandra Clare. I hope to get to know you all better over the course of this year, and hope you’re as excited about the prospect as I am!
Sonia Vaidya | Director of Communications
I’m Sonia and I’m a grade 10 pre-IB student at St. Francis Xavier. I am lucky to be the new Director of Communications for FX MUN and work with this awesome team. I joined MUN in grade 9 and I’ve had a number of amazing experiences along the way. Aside from MUN, I am a part of Debate Club, Model Parliament, and Student Council at St. Francis. Outside of school, I’ve been dancing for nearly 10 years and I also enjoy playing golf and badminton. Advait Kona | Director of Records & Finances
Hello, my name’s Advait and I am a grade 10 Pre-IB student at St Francis Xavier. This is my first year as an exec in MUN and I look forward to participating in MUN conferences as well as introducing all of you to the world of MUN.
To all of you who are on the fence on joining MUN, I recommend that you do because you get the opportunity to go to some amazing conferences and meet great people, not to mention all the crazy fun stuff you can do in crisis committees!

Ahmad Elbayoumi | Junior Director of Training
Hi! My name is Ahmad Elbayoumi and I am a Grade 10 student in the Pre-IB program here at St. Francis Xavier, and this year I will be serving as FX Model UN’s Junior Director of Training! Aside from Model UN, you might find me as the President of the FX Model Parliament or on the Student Advisory Council as your Co-Minister of Co and Extracurricular Affairs. During my free time, I enjoy volunteering at MPP Deepak Anand’s office, reading the news, debating, playing piano, and soccer (and yes, watching it of course).
My role in MUN is to work with the Senior Director of Training and the Assistant Trainer to provide training to you, the members in order to ensure that you are prepared to be a MUN member we’ve had! I will assist in teaching procedure and protocol, running debates and committees as well as ensuring that there is a direct link between me to you. So essentially, my job is to be there for you, answer your questions and help you be the best in debates!
Japinder Narula | General Executive
Hi, my name is Japinder Narula and I am a Grade 12 IB student at St. Francis Xavier. This year, I will be serving as a General Executive, which means my responsibilities range from designing, building, and updating the website to creating graphics for Instagram to filling in wherever needed, like taking minutes during meetings. Other than Model UN, I'm also a member of Common Cents Xavier, Debate Club, and Photography Club. Outside of school, I serve as Lead Scout and secondary builder on a VEX Robotics team (1104X Discobots) and I'm also a photographer on the Marketing Team for the Junior Economic Club of Toronto. When I'm not studying, I like to spend my time watching Formula 1, playing soccer or badminton, drumming, reading, and, of course, gaming.
