FAQs

Q: Will Model UN be run in-person?

A: Unfortunately, no. Due to the fact that staying after school is no longer allowed, Model UN cannot be run in person, and will therefore be online, after school, likely during evenings.

Q: What day(s) will the club be meeting?

A: FXMUN has weekly meetings every Monday.

Q: Will FX be holding a conference this year?

A: Though it would be a pleasure to be able to host the very first FXMUN this year, our current situation means it is not a possibility. As we adjust to this online model, there are many things to consider before we can create something as large as FXMUN. Furthermore, since it is our first conference, we would like to do it in a way that will suit everyone, and online models may not work for all attending delegates.

Q: What time will club meetings be held?

A:

Q: What are your COVID protocols?

A: Like all clubs, MUN will be online this year, from the application process to the meetings, including our mock conferences. We will also be posting weekly lessons in the form of powerpoint presentations.

Q: What time will meetings be?

A: The meeting time will be finalized after taking into consideration the availability of the incoming members of the 2020-2021 FXMUN chapter.

Q: What happens at an average meeting?

A: Model UN meetings are split between lessons, exercises and mock conferences. Lessons, of which we will have very few, are meetings where your trainers will present Model UN concepts such as basic procedure and types of conferences. Exercises are to test speaking and debate skills, and mock conferences are practice conferences to help delegates gain first-hand experience in the world of Model UN.

Q: Will we be attending any conferences this year?

A: Currently, all projected conferences will be attended virtually through Zoom or Google Meets. Over the course of the year, this may change as the situation improves, but the first conference of the school year, SSICsim will be online.
